The Hockey Film: Part 2(Name TBD)

In early 2025, the follow-up to The Hockey Film will begin production. This second instalment will feature stories from people in and around our great game. Much like the first film, we look to share unique (but often relatable) stories from the most passionate of hockey people. Whether you’re an owner of a destination tournament, a commissioner of a league, owner of a hockey club, a collector of unique hockey items, a player or simply a big fan of the game, we want to hear from you!

Also, like the first film, we need to let you know that this is likely another self-funded film. Persons selected for involvement (on camera) will be required to sign a waiver, and clearly understand that your involvement is voluntary and unpaid. Funds for the film are used to secure music rights, travelling and related expenses, equipment rentals and professional services such as narration, etc.

We are currently looking for the following:

  • Narrator (Contract)
  • Musicians/Bands/Etc. (Use Agreements)
  • Actors for Marketing Spots (Non Actra Preferred)
  • Hockey Players (Men/Women)
  • Hockey Players (Youth Girls/Boys)
  • Hockey Families
  • Custom/Backyard Rinks
  • Hockey Clubs (Open to any/all levels)
  • Leagues (Pickup, House Leagues and higher)
  • Team Presidents, Head Coaches, Coaching Staff, Equipment Managers
  • Arena Staff, Zamboni Drivers
  • Hockey Shrines, “Man Caves”, “Lady Caves”, etc.
  • Travelling teams, long standing hockey groups, etc.
  • People who have stories to share (Anything from typical to unique)
  • Your video clip submissions (Clips of you and solely owned by you)
  • Anything hockey that we’ve not listed here!

If this sounds like you or someone you know, reach out. A few important things to note:

We are in the initial stages of planning for production to begin in January 2025.
Due to sheer volume, you may not receive a reply from us. We apologize in advance if that’s the case,
but sincerely thank you for your interest!
Those selected for further discussions will be contacted on or before December 1, 2024.

    About The Filmmaker

    Christopher Aylward

Hello hockey fans, my name is Christopher Aylward, Cinematographer and founder of Cinematic North, filmmaker of The Hockey Film. I’ve been into film and photography since a very early age. I enjoy the entire process, from brainstorming new and exciting ideas, filming the project and even editing the work together. I’ve always believed in doing what you love, because life is far too short.
My documentary The Hockey Film, released in December of 2023. It’s currently available on Amazon Prime Video for those in the United States, and is available on Vimeo on Demand for the rest of the world. The film is a passion project that began as an idea for a short, local film on hockey. What has taken the better part of a decade to create, from original concept, revisions, endless setbacks, meeting fantastic people, visiting amazing hockey events, has culminated into a full-feature grassroots documentary.
The film features a handful of individuals from home here in Canada, including people from the United States and as far away as New Zealand. It tells many relatable and some not-so-relatable hockey stories. The film shares our true love and passion for the game, removing the stats and limelight you’d see at the professional level. Simply put, this film is about us.
Now, I’m set to begin the second instalment.
